Our collars, harnesses, and leashes are made from biodegradable, upcycled fabric, and with hemp webbing which makes them soft, durable, and easy to wash. Because we use upcycled materials, each batch is unique and individual.
WHY Hemp? Hemp is a strong and durable fiber that is also ultra sustainable. Not only does it require less water and resources to grow, it also needs no pesticides and actually gives nutrients to the soil. Hemp is also one of the strongest natural industrial materials ever made, and gets softer with use. Because it is so soft and breathable, it will keep your pets warm and cozy in the winter, and cool in the summer. Hemp is good for you and your companions, and also good for the planet.
WHY Upcycle? The average American throws away 81 lbs. of clothing and textiles every year, a big portion of these are never even used. This is equal to 26 billion lbs. of textiles that end up in landfills. Also textile mills are responsible for 1/5 of the planet’s water pollution and uses 20,000 chemicals many of them are carcinogenic. Chinese factories alone produce around three billion tons of air pollution linked to respiratory and heart disease, and the runoff is devastating for the natural ecosystem. Utilizing up-cycled fabric is a great way to off set these issues and not contribute to the pollution problem we are facing.
